The Brazilian Society of Toxicology promotes the CBTOX, which reached its 24th Brazilian Congress of Toxicology (CBTOX) 2026, held in São Paulo, SP, between June 3rd and 6th, 2026. With the central theme “Human and Environmental Health: The Challenges of Toxicology,” this edition once again promoted debates and reflections on the responsibilities of Toxicology in the current scenario.
The Congress brought together renowned national and international experts, researchers, students, professionals, and government representatives for an interdisciplinary and collaborative dialogue, showcasing scientific advancements, new regulatory approaches, and innovative solutions in toxicology.

It is worth noting the importance of this publication, which proposed default dermal absorption values that were adopted by ANVISA in the recent second version of Guide 84/2025 (published on June 2, 2026). These values replaced those defined in the EFSA Dermal Absorption Guidance (2017) with figures more representative of registered formulations. This change followed extensive, consistent technical discussions between ProHuma and ANVISA (specifically the Gemar and GGTOX units) and a statistical analysis of dermal absorption studies, resulting in the adoption of values differing from previous recommendations because the regulator—ANVISA—deemed them more appropriate and representative.
